TOP ten date-producing countries 2001

Dates are one of the greatest assets of the Arabian countries. They are very good for our bodies because they contain lots of minerals; on the other hand it isn’t so good to consume them daily because of their sweetness which will probably cause diabetes.
The bar chart shows the top ten countries in date-production in 2001. You can notice that Egypt has the biggest production which is about 1.1 million tonnes. Strangely Libya which is in the same continent has the lowest, 100 thousand tonnes, which is a bit less than Sudan producing around 190 thousand tonnes. You might have noticed that Pakistan and Iraq both produce around 650,000 tonnes a year, which is good but not as much as Saudi Arabia producing 700,000 tonnes a year. When comparing Algeria, Iran, Oman and the U.A.E; Iran comes first with a production of 860,000 tonnes per year and in second place comes the U.A.E producing approximately 800,000 tonnes, which is more than Algeria and Oman with a combined production of 600,000 tonnes.
In conclusion I’d like to say that dates are not only a great way to get minerals but also a luxury treat and traditional sweet which is not very cheap to get, that is why H.H.S.Zayed Bin Sultan (R.I.P) was interested in this treasure.
